Veronica Richards awarded 2019 Allegheny County Bar Association Professionalism Award

Attorney Veronica A. Richards was presented with the 2019 Allegheny County Bar Association Professionalism Award during the Civil Litigation Section’s annual Luncheon with the Judges on October 25, 2019. The Professionalism Award is given annually to a distinguished member of the profession who has been active in the bar association, has a minimum of fifteen years of experience in civil litigation and has exhibited the intangible, but recognizable, qualities of professionalism.  The Section reflects upon an individual’s entire career, accomplishments, and contributions not only to the practice of law, but the community as a whole.

Over 300 attorneys and judges were in attendance. According to award presenter Joe Froetschel, “the Professionalism Award is the most prestigious honor bestowed by the ACBA Civil Litigation Section.  The paramount concern is always to select someone who is not only a distinguished attorney, but that personifies the professionalism and collegiality that make our Bar a special place to practice. On a personal level, it was an honor and privilege to introduce Veronica and present her with this Award.  She has been a great mentor to myself and so many young attorneys. She is always willing to share her vast knowledge of the law and medicine with colleagues. Veronica is the embodiment of everything that this Award represents.”

Before joining her father and brother at Richards & Richards in 1994, Veronica worked as a nurse practitioner and Clinical Manger of Neurosurgery at Allegheny General Hospital.  Her practice is focused on medical malpractice and birth injury cases and she serves on the board of many professional associations. She is one of two attorneys appointed to the Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority, which is charged with taking steps to reduce and eliminate medical errors by identifying problems and recommending solutions that promote patient safety.

Over the years she has been the recipient of many prestigious awards for client service and results but she said this award was “very special because she modeled her professional career after her father and he was the epitome of professionalism.”
