Karesa is honored to be a trial lawyer.  Her priority in every medical malpractice or injury lawsuit is to get her clients the help they need and the answers they deserve. She believes her secondary role is to expose system failures and hold corporations and for-profit healthcare entities accountable for their actions. Understanding the medical industry and the regulations that apply to healthcare providers and hospitals is necessary in order to get to the root cause of why preventable errors happen. Karesa has litigated numerous medical malpractice cases resulting in seven and eight-figure settlements. It is her understanding of the need for patient safety and the common causes of systems failures in the healthcare setting that enables her to vigorously fight for and achieve results for her clients.

Karesa has had the privilege of being trained by and working alongside a physician – trial attorney and nurse practitioner – trial attorney.  These experiences give her an advantage in pursuing medical malpractice claims because of the in depth understanding of the behind-the-scenes realities of the practice of medicine that she has gained.  Karesa shared,

“I take the act of filing a lawsuit very seriously. When I do agree to file a case on behalf of a client I am 100% invested in my client, their story and bringing to light the broken system that took my client’s life and changed it forever.”

In every case, Karesa emphasizes her client’s right to recover because of what has been taken from her client.

“We all have a right to work, to our independence, to marry and have a family, and to be free from torture.  Too many times these rights are stripped from members of our community because of the negligent or reckless behavior of others.  My job is to hold those corporations and individuals accountable.”

Karesa is listed in Verdict Search for achieving a Top Pennsylvania Verdict (the largest medical malpractice verdict in Jefferson County at that time), has been selected to the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 under 40, and is a member of the prestigious, invitation-only Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County.  She serves on the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Board of Governors, as well as the Pennsylvania Association for Justice Board of Governors.

When Karesa is on your case, she is preparing for trial from day one.  As a first-generation college student who was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania, her work ethic and respect for each person as an individual drives her practice.  It is important to her to be a voice for the members of her community.  Karesa explains,

“My clients are human beings. My clients should never be just a number in a hospital or doctor’s office – even though they have often been treated that way. I know my clients. I know their families and friends. You will never be a number to me – I have to know your story so I can do my job and make sure the jury knows your story, too.”
